About
Abion “Abi” Dorhosti is a retired U.S. Air Force officer, veteran leadership educator, researcher, speaker, and trauma-informed practitioner dedicated to helping veterans reconnect with themselves, their communities, and a renewed sense of purpose.
During her 25-year military career, Abi served as a Logistics Readiness Officer and Foreign Area Officer specializing in sub-Saharan Africa. Her experience includes military command, international diplomacy, national-level policy development, and collaboration across military, diplomatic, and intelligence communities.
Today, Abi is pursuing a PhD in Transpersonal Psychology at Sofia University, where she designed the new Veteran Leadership concentration and will begin teaching in 2027. Her doctoral research examines moral injury among veterans, exploring how experiences of compassion from others may help overcome shame and open pathways to self-compassion. Her broader interests include psychedelic-assisted healing, non-ordinary states of consciousness, and the intersection of psychological, spiritual, and relational approaches to trauma recovery.
Abi is also the founder of Liminal Experiences and Amistar Foundation, through which she works to expand access to trauma-informed coaching, transformational retreats, and community-based healing opportunities, particularly for veterans and underserved populations.
As a speaker, writer, educator, and retreat facilitator, Abi brings together military experience, scholarly inquiry, and embodied practice to explore moral injury, veteran reintegration, compassionate witnessing, and the transformative potential of human connection.
