Chris Lancia
Army veteran and storyteller who helps people find their strengths, build belonging, and show up for each other.
Chris Lancia is a retired Army officer, journalist, and storyteller who believes strong character is built through small, daily choices. For more than two years, he has started every morning with his Driveway Walks videos. He shares real stories, a little humor, a reminder that belonging is something we build together, and closes every video the same way: “Now go out and do something good today.”

About
Chris Lancia is a storyteller, a runner who rarely shows up without an American flag, and a firm believer that remembrance is something we do together. As the Director of Marketing and Communications for wear blue: run to remember, he shares the stories of Gold Star and military-connected families and the impact felt through community running and active remembrance.
Chris retired from the U.S. Army after 26 years of service. He started as a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crew chief and finished as the Public Affairs Officer for the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne). After retiring, he became Tennessee’s first Director of Military and Veteran Initiatives.
Chris also served as a newspaper reporter and editor, which is where he learned that the best stories are always focused on people. Today, he brings that storyteller’s instinct to stages across the military community. His talks center on real people and real moments rather than slides and statistics, and he gives audiences permission to feel the weight of loss and to laugh, because the families he knows carry both. Recently he was the featured speaker at the USAA BeWell 5K in San Antonio, emceed and served as a panelist at the ZeroMils Military Thriving Regional Change Forum in Nashville, and helped lead communications for One Flag Forward’s 250-mile flag relay from New York City to the Global War on Terrorism Memorial. He also shares a daily dose of encouragement through his Driveway Walks videos, which always end the same way: “Now go out and do something good today.”
For more than 15 years, Chris has carried the flag at races and ruck marches representing the veteran community he calls home.
Chris and his wife, Sarah, are the proud parents of Devon, who leads programs and partnerships at Military Veterans in Journalism, and Vincent, an active-duty Air Force NCO (the family has made peace with the branch choice). They live on Two Makers Farm in Montgomery County, Tennessee, with an adventure dog, two cats, seven goats, and two mini horses. They’re still working on the partridge in the pear tree.
