About
Judy Davis is the founder of Caregiver Candor, a caregiver education company developing practical solutions that help healthcare systems, rehabilitation providers, veteran-serving organizations, and community partners better prepare and support family caregivers.
An author, speaker, and military spouse caregiver with more than 20 years of speaking experience, Judy brings an uncommon combination of lived experience, entrepreneurial thinking, and practical problem-solving to one of healthcare’s often overlooked challenges: the gap between giving families care instructions and preparing them to manage care at home.
In 2019, Judy’s life changed overnight when her husband, Geoff, was critically injured in an explosion while on active duty. Navigating his recovery from an amputation, traumatic brain injury, and PTSD gave her firsthand insight into the complex responsibilities families assume when someone they love experiences a life-changing injury or illness.
That experience revealed a problem extending far beyond the military community. Healthcare organizations routinely depend on family caregivers to carry out care plans, coordinate services, manage changing needs, and advocate for loved ones, yet those caregivers may have little understanding of what the responsibility will actually require.
Judy founded Caregiver Candor to help organizations address that gap. At the center of her work is the Caregiver Transition Program, an organization-tailored educational solution designed to supplement clinical discharge education with practical caregiver orientation, clear next steps, and accessible support resources.
Built for integration into existing workflows, the program helps organizations strengthen caregiver preparation without creating significant additional demands on staff.
Through strategic partnerships, caregiver education resources, and speaking engagements, Judy works to advance a more practical approach to caregiver readiness across healthcare, rehabilitation, veteran services, and community-based support.
As a speaker, she challenges organizational leaders to reconsider a critical assumption: Just because a family member is willing to provide care doesn’t mean they’re prepared to do it.
Her mission is to help organizations move beyond handing families information toward giving them the clarity, tools, and support they need to manage what comes next.
