How to Create Your MIC Index Profile

To create a profile, check Discover for an existing page, then start from the join page with your name and email. Sign in with the emailed link or code, fill in the Creator Studio sections, and select Submit for review. The MIC Index team reviews it and publishes it. Profiles are free.

Before You Begin

Check whether the team has already built a page for you. Open Discover and search your name. If you’re already there, don’t start a second profile. Claim that one instead.

Expected result: if your name returns no creators, you’re not listed yet and can start a new profile. If it finds you, claim that page instead.

It helps to have these ready, but you can add or change any of them later, so don’t let a missing one stop you.

  • A headline that says what you create or do, in one line.
  • Links to your public channels: social accounts, website, podcast, newsletter or portfolio.
  • Three to five pieces of work you’re proud of, each with a link.
  • A square headshot, if you’ve one. Initials are shown if you don’t.

1. Start from the Join Page

  1. Go to Join the Index.
  2. Enter your name as it should appear publicly and the email address you want to sign in with. The email is never shown on the site.
  3. Choose your military connection. Branch of service is optional.
  4. Check the confirmation box and select Start my profile.
Expected result: a page titled Check your email, with the four steps that follow.

Only the team sees your military connection. Your service status is never published, used in filters, or used to build collections.

2. Sign In from Your Email

  1. Open the message from MIC Index. It contains a sign-in link and an 8-digit code. Both work once and expire after one hour.
  2. Open the link on the same device, or go to Sign in, enter your email and type the code.
  3. You’ll land in the Creator Studio. There’s no password. Each time you sign in, you just ask for a new link.
Expected result: after a correct code, the Creator Studio overview opens. A wrong or expired code shows a message with a link to request a new one.

3. Build Your Profile in the Studio

The overview shows a completeness checklist. Each item links to the section that fixes it, and drafts save automatically as you type.

Expected result: items turn green as you complete them. The checklist is a guide to a complete profile; the team still reviews before publishing.

  • Profile: name, headline, short and full bio, public location, branch and the public military wording you approve.
  • Expertise: pick three to five topics you want to be found for; you can add up to eight. These power the Discover filters and the collections you appear in.
  • Channels: your public accounts, with an audience figure, metric and date per platform if you want to share them.
  • Featured work: the work you want brands and media to see first, with a link each.
  • Experience, Collaborate and Contact: your roles, what you’re open to, and whether organizations can reach you through the Index.

For a section-by-section walkthrough, see Use the Creator Studio. For what to write, see Build a profile that shows your value.

4. Preview, Then Submit for Review

  1. Open Preview to see the profile exactly as visitors will.
  2. Select Submit for review in the bar at the bottom of the Studio. The button is active once the draft has saved.
Expected result: the preview matches what you typed. Anything missing here is missing on the public page too.

What Has to Be True Before the Team Publishes

To go live, your profile needs a public name, a specific headline, at least one expertise topic, and at least one public link the team has reviewed. Behind the scenes, the team also confirms your military connection, notes a source that supports it, and records the review date. Completing the Studio checklist helps, but the team makes the publishing decision. The detail is in the Profile & Verification Policy.

Where Your Profile Lives

Your profile link looks like this: https://creators.militaryinfluencer.com/example-name/, with a printable one-pager at https://creators.militaryinfluencer.com/example-name/one-pager/. You don’t need to build these addresses yourself: copy the link from your profile page or the Studio Share page, and use the Download one-pager button on the profile.

What Success Looks Like

The Studio overview shows a green Published status, your page opens at its public address, and it appears in Discover and in any collection whose rules it matches. A blue Under review pill means the team has it. You’ll get an email either way.

Common Problems

  • No sign-in email. Check spam and promotions, then request a new one from the sign-in page. The newest email is the one that works.
  • "This email already manages a profile." You’ve joined before. Sign in instead of starting again.
  • Submit for review is grayed out. Wait for the status bar to show the draft has saved, or make a change first: there’s nothing to submit if nothing changed.

Questions People Ask

How long does review take?

There’s no fixed turnaround. A person on the team reads every submission, and during the beta they’re working through them in order. You get an email when it’s published or if a change is needed.

Is my military status shown publicly?

No. Your service status, such as active duty, Guard, Reserve or veteran, is held for the team’s review and never published, filtered on or used to build collections. Only the branch and the public wording you approve appear on the page.

Does finishing the checklist guarantee publication?

No. The checklist shows what a complete profile needs. Before publishing, the team also confirms a military connection, records a supporting source and a review date, and checks the public minimums in the Profile & Verification Policy.

Does it cost anything or need a follower minimum?

No. Profiles are free and there’s no follower minimum. Creators never pay to be listed.
