Before You Begin
The full rules are in the Privacy Policy and the Profile & Verification Policy. This guide is the short version: what’s public, what you control in the Studio, and how to ask for a change if you can’t or don’t want to sign in.
What Is Public and What Is Private
- Public: name, headline, bios, public location, branch, the public military wording you approve, expertise, featured work, experience, channels and the figures you add, offerings, and a public email or contact page if you choose to show one.
- Private: service status (active duty, veteran, Guard, Reserve, spouse), your sign-in email, manager contact details, and anything used to confirm a verification check.
- Your private service status is never used in filters or collections. Those only use the public wording on your profile.
1. Set Your Public Military Wording
In the Studio, open Profile and scroll to Military connection. Your status is private. Under Public wording, choose the branch alone (the default) or approve your full connection for public display. Changes here are always flagged for review.
On unclaimed profiles, the team writes this wording from public sources. Claim your profile to control it yourself, or ask for a change through the requests form without claiming.
2. Choose How Inquiries Reach You
Open Contact. Decide whether organizations can contact you through the Index at all, and by which route: through the team, a public email, your own contact page, or a manager. Inquiries always go to the team first and are forwarded according to this choice.
3. Ask for a Correction or Removal, with or Without an Account
- Open Corrections, Removal & Privacy Requests.
- Choose the request type: correct something, remove a listing, remove a photo, report impersonation, revoke or change public military wording, delete information you submitted, ask what’s held about you, or a copyright complaint.
- Give your name, an email for the reply, the profile address and your relationship to it, then describe what should change.
Owners of a claimed profile can also ask for a change through the Studio, and anyone can suggest an update to a claimed profile from the Suggest an update link on it.
4. Observed Figures and Publishes About
Observed audience numbers come from public platform pages and get updated from time to time. The team sets the Publishes about row based on your public posts. You can ask for either to be changed or stopped through the requests form or the Studio.
What Success Looks Like
Your public page shows only the wording, location and contact route you approved, inquiries reach you the way you chose, and any correction or removal request has a reply from the team in your inbox.
Common Problems
- You never claimed the profile and want it gone. You don’t need an account. Use the requests form and choose Remove a listing.
- The wording about your service is wrong. From the Studio, change Public wording in Profile. Without an account, choose Revoke or change public military wording on the requests form.
- A photo you own is on a profile. Choose Remove a photo or image, or use the copyright complaint route.
Questions People Ask
Which parts of my profile are public?
Your name, headline, bios, public location, branch, approved public wording, expertise, featured work, experience, channels and any audience figures you added, plus offerings and the contact route you chose. Your service status, sign-in email, private contact details and anything the team used for verification are never shown.
Can I keep my branch private?
Yes. Your branch only shows if you add it, so leave it blank if you’d rather. Without wording you’ve approved, the site shows your branch alone or "Military-connected creator."
Can someone without an account ask for a correction?
Yes. The Corrections, Removal & Privacy Requests form is open to anyone, including people with an unclaimed profile and people who represent the person listed.
What can I ask for?
A correction, removal of a listing, removal of a photo, a report of impersonation, a change to public military wording, deletion of information you submitted, a copy of what the Index holds about you, or a copyright complaint.
