How to Get Verified on the MIC Index

To verify you, the MIC Index team checks four things using public and professional sources: your identity, military connection, professional role, and public channels. Claim or create your profile first, then ask the team through the contact form. The badge appears when all four checks are confirmed.

Before You Begin

You can get verified once you’ve claimed or created your profile, because verification confirms a real person who’s taking part. If you haven’t done that yet, start with Claim a profile the team built or Create your profile.

What the Badge Means

Verified means the MIC Index team has reviewed and confirmed four things under a published standard. The checks are independent, and the badge appears only when all four pass.

  • Identity. The team confirms who you are through trusted public or professional sources, by confirming with you directly, or another suitable way.
  • Military connection. The team confirms this privately using public or professional information. They only record that the check was done, never what any document says.
  • Professional role. Confirmed through relevant professional sources, such as organization pages or official biographies.
  • Public channels. Checked for ownership or control, with a temporary code in a public bio where appropriate.
Expected result: visitors see the badge and a short explanation of the four checks. It doesn’t confirm audience figures, engagement or campaign results.

Verified doesn’t mean the team endorses the creator, guarantees every claim on the profile, confirms follower counts or represents the creator commercially. It has nothing to do with your rank, awards, or how long you served.

1. Open Verification in the Studio

Sign in to the Creator Studio and select the Verification in progress pill at the top of the overview. It reads Verified once all four checks pass.

Expected result: the verification page opens and shows the four checks.

2. Read the Four Checks

Each check shows Reviewing until the team confirms it, then Confirmed. You can’t edit anything on this page. The team updates it as they review.

Expected result: four rows with a status each. The public badge appears only when all four read Confirmed.

3. Ask the Team

There’s no verify button. Just contact the team, choose the topic for an existing profile, and say you’d like to be verified. Mention anything that makes it easier, such as an organization email address, an official biography page, or an event where you met the team.

Expected result: a Message sent confirmation. The team replies by email and may ask for one thing for a specific check.

  1. A person on the team works through the four checks using public and professional sources.
  2. Each check moves from Reviewing to Confirmed in your Studio as it is done.
  3. When all four are confirmed, the badge appears on your public profile.

Anything the team uses to confirm your military connection stays private. The badge is the only public result.

4. Use Your Verified Badge

Once the team issues your credential, the Verified badge section of the Studio offers full and compact badges in light and dark, website embed code, a linked email signature with a text-only alternative, PNG and SVG downloads, and your verification link with a QR code. Every version links to your public verification record, which shows the current status.

  • Hosted badges reflect status changes when refreshed. Browsers and email services may cache images. Open the verification record to confirm current status.
  • Downloaded cards are dated and carry the record address and a QR code. They do not update on their own.
  • The badge belongs to you. It cannot be transferred or altered, and it must come down as Verified if your status ends.

Keeping It Current

If you change your name, your main channels or your role, update the profile in the Studio as usual. The team may re-confirm the check that the change affects, and can revoke verification if information that supported it turns out to be wrong.

What Success Looks Like

All four rows on your Studio verification page read Confirmed, the pill at the top of the overview reads Verified, and your public profile shows the Verified badge with its explanation.

Common Problems

  • One check stays at Reviewing. The team may need something for that check only. Reply to their email, or contact them with what you can offer, such as an organization email address.
  • Your channels changed. Update them in the Studio first; the team confirms the new ones.

Questions People Ask

How do I get verified?

Claim or create your profile, then contact the team through the contact form and say you’d like to be verified. The team confirms identity, military connection, professional role and public channels using public and professional sources, and the badge appears when all four are confirmed.

Do I have to upload a DD-214 or ID?

No. The team uses official and professional biographies, employer and organization pages, public profiles, reputable coverage and direct confirmation. Sensitive personnel records aren’t requested as a standard method.

Does Verified mean my follower counts are confirmed?

No. Verification doesn’t cover audience figures. Those are shown per platform with a date and a source label: self-reported means you entered it, observed means it was collected from the public platform page on that date.

How long does verification take?

There’s no fixed turnaround. The checks are done by people, and the team may email you for one of them.

Can verification be removed?

Yes. If information that supported a check turns out to be wrong, the team can revoke it. Keeping your profile current avoids that.
