How to Add Featured Work and Channels

Featured work is a specific thing you made: a talk, episode, article or campaign, with a link and one line on your part in it. A channel is a public account or site where people follow you. Add up to ten work items, feature three to five, and list your channels with dated audience numbers per platform.

Before You Begin

Work samples and channels live in different parts of the Studio and do different jobs:

  • A work sample is a specific thing you made: a talk, an episode, an article, a campaign, a photo series, a product. It goes in Featured work.
  • A channel is a place people follow you: an Instagram or LinkedIn account, a YouTube channel, a podcast feed, a newsletter, your website. It goes in Channels.

Have your links ready. Without a link, a work item is just a claim. With one, it’s proof.

1. Add Featured Work

  1. In the Studio, open Featured work and select Add.
  2. Give it a title and a type (talk, episode, article, campaign, project).
  3. In Your role / org, say what your contribution was: host, keynote, author, photographer, lead creator.
  4. Write the one-line summary for cards and the one-pager, then a fuller description if the item needs it.
  5. Paste the link and set the dates. Check Featured to show it first.
Expected result: the item appears under Featured Work on your profile, with its summary and link.

Pick the work that best shows what you do now, not your oldest or biggest piece. A brand reads featured work before anything else.

2. Add Channels

  1. Open Channels and select Add.
  2. Pick the platform, enter the handle and the full URL.
  3. Optionally add an audience figure, choose the metric for that platform (followers, subscribers, connections), and enter when you measured it.
Expected result: each channel appears on your profile with its figure, the date and a self-reported label.

3. How Figures Appear on Your Profile

  • Figures are shown per platform and are never added into one total.
  • Each figure carries a date and a source. Self-reported means you entered it. Observed means the team collected it from the public platform page on the date shown.
  • Verification doesn’t confirm your numbers. The badge only covers your identity, military connection, role, and that you control your channels.
Expected result: visitors see each platform's figure with its date and label, and no combined number anywhere.

4. Expertise Tags versus Publishes About

Your expertise tags are chosen by you in the Studio and drive filters and collections. Some profiles also show a Publishes about row. It lists topics pulled from a sample of your recent public posts. Software suggests them, and the team reviews, corrects, or rejects each one before anything appears. It describes what you publish, never your military status. If it’s wrong, ask for a change through the Studio or a correction request.

What Success Looks Like

Your profile shows three to five featured items with links that open, every channel with a working URL, and figures that carry a metric, a date and a source label. Nothing is added together, and every number is recent enough that you’d stand behind it.

Common Problems

  • The link doesn’t open. Paste the full address including https. Private or members-only pages won’t open for a reviewer.
  • You don’t want to share a figure. Leave Audience blank. The channel is still listed.
  • The Publishes about row is wrong. It’s set by the team from public posts, not by you. Ask for a change through the Studio or a correction request.

Questions People Ask

How many work items can I add?

Up to ten in the Studio. Check Featured on the ones you want shown first; three to five featured items is the sweet spot.

What does self-reported mean next to my follower count?

That you entered the figure yourself, with the date you measured it. A figure marked observed was collected by the team from the public platform page on the date shown. Both are per platform and never added together, and verification doesn’t cover either.

What’s the Publishes about row?

Topics identified from a sample of your recent public posts, suggested by automated analysis and then reviewed, corrected or rejected by the team before anything appears. It’s separate from the expertise tags you choose, and you can ask for it to be changed or removed.

Can the team collect observed figures without asking?

Observed figures come from public platform pages and are refreshed periodically. You can ask for that collection to stop at any time through a correction request.
