How to Use the Creator Studio

The Creator Studio is where you edit your profile. Each section in the left navigation covers one part of the page. Drafts save automatically as you type, nothing is public until you submit, and the MIC Index team publishes what you submit. This guide walks through every section and every status.

Before You Begin

Go to Sign in, enter the email you joined or claimed with, and use the link or 8-digit code from the email. Both work once and last one hour. There’s no password.

Jump to a section:

Overview and Checklist

The first screen shows how complete your profile is, when it was last published, and whether an update is waiting for review. Below that’s a completeness checklist. Each item links to the section that fixes it. The Verification pill at the top shows whether you’re verified and opens the verification page.

Expected result: a percentage and a list of what’s still missing. The checklist is a guide; the team makes the publishing decision.

Profile

Add your display name, preferred name, headline, website, short and full bio, public location, and photo. The headline matters most: say what you create or do, specifically. "Air Force veteran, podcaster and leadership coach for first-time supervisors" beats "Content creator". See Build a profile that shows your value for examples.

Expected result: the headline and short bio appear on your card in Discover; the full bio appears on the profile page.

Further down is the Military connection block. Your status (active duty, veteran, Guard, Reserve, spouse) is private and seen only by you and the team. Your branch is public. Under Public wording, choose whether visitors see just your branch (the default) or your full connection, which you approve before it’s shown. Changes here are always flagged for review.

Expected result: the wording you pick is what visitors see under your name. Without an approved label the site shows the branch, or Military-connected creator.

Featured Work

Add up to ten things you’ve made, like a talk, an episode, an article, a campaign, or a product. Each has a title, a type, your role or organization, a one-line summary for cards and the one-pager, a full description, a link and dates. Check Featured on the items you want shown first.

Expected result: featured items appear in the Featured Work section of your profile and on the one-pager.

Expected result: featured items appear in the Featured Work section of your profile and on the one-pager.

Experience

List your current and past roles and organizations with start and end years. Use the toggle to mark the ones you’re in now. Keep it to what’s relevant to the work you want to be found for.

Expected result: roles appear in the Experience section of your profile, newest first.

Expected result: roles appear in the Experience section of your profile, newest first.

Expertise

Pick three to five topics you want to be found for, up to eight, from the grouped list. These power the Discover filters and decide which collections you appear in, so choose the ones you’d want a brand to find you by. You can add your own terms under Your own topics; the team reviews suggestions and may map them to an existing topic. Some topics carry a brand-safety note that shows on your profile.

Expected result: selected topics appear as tags on your profile and in the expertise filter.

Channels

Your public accounts, website, podcast or newsletter. For each one: the platform, handle, URL, an audience figure, the metric (followers, subscribers, connections), when it was measured and the source. The site shows figures per platform and never adds them into one total. Leave the figure blank if you’d rather not share it. See Add featured work and channels.

Expected result: each channel is listed on your profile with its figure, the date and a self-reported label.

Collaborate and Contact

Collaborate is where you list the kinds of partnerships you’re open to, such as speaking, brand partnerships, sponsored content or podcast appearances, with an optional one-line note per offering, your availability, and whether you work remotely. Past collaborations and clients can be listed too.

Expected result: offerings appear as Partnership Opportunities on your profile, and availability feeds the Discover filter.

Contact sets whether organizations can reach you through the Index at all, and how: through the MIC Index team, a public email, your own contact page, or a manager. Inquiries always go to the team first and are forwarded according to what you choose here. Your private email is never shown.

Expected result: with contact allowed, your public profile shows a Work With button that opens the inquiry form.

Preview

Shows your draft exactly as a visitor will see it. The switch at the top compares Draft with Live profile, so you can see what an update will change before you submit.

Expected result: the Draft view includes your unsubmitted edits; the Live view is what the public sees right now.

Share and Settings

Share holds your card, caption and QR code once the profile is public; until then, you’ll see a note that there’s nothing to share yet. See Share your profile.

Expected result before publication: a note that the kit appears once the profile is public. After publication: the card, caption and QR code.

Settings shows your sign-in email and method, who can manage the profile, and which emails you want from the Index. You can invite a manager or editor by email. They can suggest changes, but only the team publishes them.

Expected result: invited people appear in the list with their role, marked Invited until they sign in.

Saving and Submitting

  • Drafts save automatically. The bar at the bottom shows "Saving draft" and then the saved state with the number of unsubmitted changes. Nothing you type is public until you submit it and the team publishes it.
  • Preview changes opens the draft view.
  • Submit for review sends the draft to the team. It’s active once the draft has saved and there’s at least one change.
Expected result: after submitting you return to the overview and the status pill reads Under review.

Review States

  • Under review. The team has your submission. You can keep editing; Resubmit for review sends the newer version, and Withdraw pending update pulls it back.
  • Changes requested. The team needs something adjusted before publishing. The note explains what. Make the change and resubmit.
  • Published. The public page now matches what you submitted. Later edits go through the same loop, so visitors never see a half-finished profile.
Expected result: the pill and the bottom bar both show the pending state until the team acts.

Verification status can’t be edited from the Studio. It’s set only by the team after its own review. See Get verified.

What Success Looks Like

Every section you care about is filled in, the bottom bar reads Draft saved with a count of changes, Preview shows what you expect, and after you submit the overview shows Under review and then Published.

Common Problems

  • The submit button is disabled. Either the draft is still saving, or there are no changes to submit.
  • You changed your mind after submitting. Select Withdraw pending update in the bottom bar. The draft stays, so you can edit and resubmit.
  • A section doesn’t appear on the public page. Empty sections don’t show on your public page. Fill it in and submit.

Questions People Ask

Yes. Your edits go into the draft. Select Resubmit for review to send the newer version, or Withdraw pending update to pull the submission back.

Who else can edit my profile?
