How to Find Military Creators on the MIC Index

Open Discover and narrow things down with search and seven filters: expertise, creator type, branch, collaboration type, location, availability and platform. Check each profile’s status, work, and audience numbers (with the date they were checked), then save the people who fit to your shortlist. Browsing is free and needs no account.

Before You Begin

Browsing is free and needs no account. It helps to know roughly the topic, the kind of collaboration, and where it’ll happen. The filters line up with those. Brand accounts with named lists open at public launch in early 2027, so during the beta your shortlist lives in this browser.

1. Search the Index

Open Discover. The search box matches names, topics and work, so a theme like "leadership" or "transition" works as well as a name.

Expected result: the count updates as you type and the grid narrows to matching military creators.

2. Narrow with the Filters

Seven filters sit above the grid: expertise, creator type, branch of service, collaboration type, location, availability and platform. A separate Remote / virtual toggle keeps only creators who work remotely.

Expected result: the grid and count update as soon as you change a filter. There’s no button to press.

Branch filters and the Military Spouses collection read the public military wording on each profile. Claimed creators approve that wording; for unclaimed listings the team prepares it from public sources. Private service status is never used for filtering or collections.

3. Check the Active Filters and Clear Them

Active filters are listed as chips above the results, with a Clear link. Remove one to widen the search again.

Expected result: the chips name every active filter. Clear removes them all at once.

Expected result when nothing matches: a message instead of an empty grid. Remove the narrowest filter, usually location or platform.

4. Or Start from a Collection

Collections are ready-made groups: by topic such as Leadership or Financial Education, by creator type such as Speakers, by branch of service, and by community such as Military Spouses. Each has a short intro explaining who is in it. If your brief has an obvious theme, a collection is a faster starting point than the full grid.

Expected result: a themed grid with the same profile cards as Discover.

5. Read a Profile

Expected result: everything a brief needs is on one page: who they’re, what they have made, what they’re open to, and dated figures per platform.

  • Status. Every profile is Unclaimed, Claimed or Verified. Unclaimed means the team built it from public sources and the person hasn’t taken part yet. Claimed means the person controls it. Verified means the team has confirmed identity, military connection, professional role and public channels under a published standard.
  • The Verified badge doesn’t confirm follower counts, engagement, audience demographics or campaign performance.
  • Audience figures are shown per platform with a date and a source label. Self-reported means the creator entered it. Observed means it was collected from the public platform page on the date shown. Figures are never added into one total.
  • Featured work, experience and partnership opportunities tell you what the person actually does and what they’re open to. Expertise tags link to the collection for that topic. A Publishes about row, where present, lists topics identified from recent public posts and reviewed by the team.
  • Select Download one-pager for a printable summary you can drop into a deck or share with your team.

6. Save the People Who Fit

  1. On any profile, select Save. A confirmation appears and the Shortlist count in the header updates.
  2. Open Shortlist to compare the people you saved, remove anyone, and choose who to include in a brief. See Build and use a shortlist.
Expected result: the Save button shows the saved state and the header count goes up by one.

7. Reach Out

When you’ve the right people, send one inquiry to a creator or one brief for the whole shortlist. The team reviews it and routes it according to each creator's preferences. See Send an inquiry or brief and Write a useful creator brief.

What Success Looks Like

You’ve a grid narrowed to a handful of military creators who match the brief, you’ve read each profile's status and dated audience figures, and the people who fit are saved to your shortlist with the count showing in the header.

Common Problems

  • No results. Remove the narrowest filter first, usually location or platform. Keep expertise and collaboration type, since those matter most.
  • A profile has no audience figures. Figures are optional and shown only per platform. Judge the work and the channels instead.
  • The creator is Unclaimed. The team built the page from public sources and the person hasn’t taken part yet. You can still include them in a brief; the team will try to reach them, and the shortlist warns you that participation is unconfirmed.

Questions People Ask

How do I find military content creators for a campaign?

Open Discover, type a topic or name, and narrow the grid with the expertise, creator type, branch, collaboration, location, availability and platform filters. Collections give a themed starting point. Save the people who fit and send one brief from the shortlist.

What do Unclaimed, Claimed and Verified mean?

Unclaimed: the team built the page from public sources and the person hasn’t taken part yet. Claimed: the person controls the page. Verified: the team has confirmed identity, military connection, professional role and public channels under a published standard.

Are the follower numbers confirmed?

No. Verification doesn’t cover audience figures. Each figure is shown per platform with a date and a source: self-reported means the creator entered it, observed means it was collected from the public platform page on that date. Figures are never added into one total.

Why can’t I filter by veteran or active duty?

Service status is private and is never used for public filtering or collections. Branch filters and the Military Spouses collection use the public military wording on each profile, which claimed creators approve and which the team prepares from public sources for unclaimed listings.

Do I need an account to browse or save?

No. Browsing is free, and the shortlist is stored in your browser on this device. Brand accounts with named lists, private notes and team sharing open at public launch in early 2027.
